John FEATHERSTONE is a 7-string guitarist, singer, songwriter, composer, and arranger based in Paris.
He specialises in juxtaposing classical and contemporary modes in his performances, which range from solo concerts to a major cross-over work for two choirs and contemporary chamber group. His choral repertoire includes a trilogy of cantatas on the birth, life and passion of Christ, CREDO, based on the text of the Creed, and PASSAGE, a musical dialogue between faith and scepticism. He had just released a classical-jazz-gospel Te Deum for 3 vocal ensembles.
On the instrumental front, John has composed, performed and recorded on the unique 7-string guitar built for him by Andy Manson.
In 2013, following the release of his French CD of church songs, John was appointed music director for a televised service uniting the Protestant church throughout France, held at the 15,000 seater Bercy Stadium in Paris. This involved arranging for, and conducting, a 1000-strong choir and 47 piece orchestra.
John has recorded 15 CDs of his own music and his collaborative work is extensive. Performance contexts include theatres and cathedrals as well as small halls, churches, prisons, bars, and people’s front rooms.
